The Metropolitan Art Museum, which is shortly called as The Met is famous art Museum situated in eastern land of Central Park along with the Museum Mile in City of New York. The museum has permanent collection of more than 2 million art works, which is separated into 19 curatorial departments. The main building which is called simply as “the Met” is the largest art gallery in the world and there is also 2nd location which is much smaller situated in Upper Manhattan that features only medieval art.
The museum of art has permanent collection of art work from traditional antiquity and from Ancient Egypt, sculptures and painting from many European master and very good collection of modern art from America. The Metropolitan Museum of Art also contains holdings of Asian, Africa, and Oceanic, Islamic and Byzantine art. The museum contains many encyclopedic collections of costumes, accessories, musical instruments, armor and antique weapons from around the world.
