The National Gallery of Victoria is a famous museum and art gallery located in Melbourne, Australia. The museum was actually founded in the year 1861 and is the largest and most ancient art gallery located in Australia. The main gallery is situated in St Kilda road, in Melbourne Arts Precinct in Southbank, with a gallery at Federation Store.

When the time of opening of the gallery, Victoria remained as independent colony for another 10 years but during opening of Victorian Gold rush, it became Australia’s richest part and largest city of Melbourne. There were many wealthy citizens, who gave generous gifts including Alfred Felton, a famous industrialist who made it possible for National Gallery to purchase huge collections of art works from various countries. It presently holds more than 63,000 art works. The National Gallery of Victoria Art School was established in 1867 which is also related with the Gallery. Art Institute of Chicago

The Art Institute of Chicago is a very good fine art museum which is present in Illinois Grant Park in Chicago. It has the finest collection of Post-impressionist and Impressionist art in the permanent collection. There also notable collections of American Art, Old Master works, American and European Decorative arts, Modern Art, Asian Art as well as contemporary art. It is situated in 111, South Michigan Avenue in the Chicago.

The Museum is also associated with School of Art Institute in Chicago and is estimated by President and Director James Cuno. At 1 million Sq.feet, the museum is 2nd largest in US behind the Metropolitan Art Museum in New York. The collection of art works includes more than five thousand years of human expression from various cultures and traditions around the world. It has an art collection of more than 2, 60,000 works. The art institute also holds work which ranges from Japanese prints to latest updated American Art.

The Queensland Art Gallery

The Queensland Art Gallery which was earlier called Queensland Cultural Centre is situated near Brisbane River in South Bank. The philosophy behind the gallery is connecting people and arts. The Queensland Art gallery is symbol of cultural and artistic development and has various qualities and many attractions that encourage people for visiting many collections. They opened the gallery during the year 1985. Earlier to History, the gallery housed a sequence of temporary premises and did not have any permanent home till they launched the present building in South Bank of Brisbane in the year 1982.

The Queensland Art Gallery was regarded as the most famous building during its time and it used some of the best materials and techniques which were available with economic limits of project.  It was the 1st building that was built in South Side of adjacent river for new Victoria Bridge and was established as benchmark scale with many future buildings. The National Gallery of Art is a famous art museum situated in National Mall, in Washington D.C. It was open free of cost to public and the museum got established during the year 1937 for people of US by joint decision of United States Congress and Andrew w. Mellon who donated the funds of construction and art collection. Additionally the core collection has many art works donated by Ailsa Mellon, Paul Mellon, Samuel Henry kress, Lessing J. Rosenwald, Peter Arrel Brown. The collection of gallery has drawings, paintings, photographs, medals, sculpture, decorative arts and development of Western Arts from recent ages to present which include famous painting of Leonarda da Vinci in Americas and famous mobile that was created by Alexander Calder.

The campus of the Gallery includes the famous neoclassical west building which was created by John Russell pope that was linked underground with modern east building which was created by I.M Pei, with a sculpture of garden of 6.1 acres. The art gallery conducts temporary special exhibitions traversing the world and the history of art. The museum is composed of 2 buildings, the East Building (1978) and the West Building (1941) which is linked together by very good underground passage. Metropolitan Museum of Art

The Metropolitan Art Museum, which is shortly called as The Met is famous art Museum situated in eastern land of Central Park along with the Museum Mile in City of New York. The museum has permanent collection of more than 2 million art works, which is separated into 19 curatorial departments. The main building which is called simply as “the Met” is the largest art gallery in the world and there is also 2nd location which is much smaller situated in Upper Manhattan that features only medieval art.

The museum of art has permanent collection of art work from traditional antiquity and from Ancient Egypt, sculptures and painting from many European master and very good collection of modern art from America. The Metropolitan Museum of Art also contains holdings of Asian, Africa, and Oceanic, Islamic and Byzantine art. The museum contains many encyclopedic collections of costumes, accessories, musical instruments, armor and antique weapons from around the world. The Museum of Contemporary Art

The Museum of Contemporary Art located in Los Angeles, California is a contemporary art museum and has three branches in California. The main branch is located in Downtown Los Angeles in Grand Avenue near the Walt Disney Concert Hall. The original space of MOCA which was actually intended as temporary space for exhibit and main facility was built and is now called as Geffen Contemporary in Little Tokyo, famous district in Los Angeles.

Since the inception of museum, the programs of MOCA has been defined by a multi-disciplinary approach towards contemporary art. With many popular events and exhibitions, MOCA is one of the finest museums which display modern art. Review of National Art Gallery of Canada

Located in Ottawa, the capital city of Canada, the National gallery of Canada is one of the premier art galleries of Canada. The Gallery is placed in granite and glass apartment on Sussex Drive with spectacular view of the parliament building on Parliament Hill. This amazing structure was the creation of famous Architect Moshe Safdie which was opened during the year 1654. The former director of the gallery Jean Sutherland Boggs was selected by Pierre Trudeau, the Prime minister of Canada to take care of national gallery of museums and gallery.

Initially, the gallery was formed by John Douglas, the Governor General of Canada and it was moved to 1st home on Parliament Hill in exactly same building as Supreme Court. In 1911, they moved the gallery to Victoria Memorial Museum. The National Gallery of Canada was chosen as one among top five hundred buildings in Canada which has been built in last century by Royal Architectural Institute of Canada. New South Wales Art Gallery

The New South Wales Art Gallery is situated in The Domain, in the city of Sydney, in New South Wales, Australia. It was established during the year 1897. It is the 4th largest gallery in Australia and a significant public gallery in Sydney. Admission is free of cost for general exhibition, which features Asian, European and Australian Art.

During April 1871, there were many public meetings that were convened to establish Academy of Art to promote through art classes, some of fine arts and regular lectures and exhibitions. From 1879 to 1872, the major activity in organization was annual art exhibitions. During the year 1880, the Annual meeting was held in 9th century and was dissolved during Academy. The name was changed as National Art Gallery of New South Wales in the year 1883. The gallery was initiated by Act of Parliament during the year 1899. The Art gallery Act and Library Act in 1899 offered for general management and control of gallery. In the main entrance, the equestrian statue, Offering of Peace by Gilbert Peace was added during the year 1926.

San Francisco Museum of Modern Art

The San Francisco Museum of Modern Art

The San Francisco Museum of Modern Art is located in San Francisco, California. The museum opened during the year 1935, by the Diego Rivera which was established as permanent collection. Bender who was the museum’s trustee, started to make donations of more than 1,100 objects to museum and endowed the purchase fund before the death in 1941. Grace Morley stayed as the museum’s director till the year 1958. The further directors were Neal Benezra, George D. Culler, Gerald Nordland, Henry T. Hopkins, David A. Ross and John R. Lane.

For its 46 years, the museum occupied the upper floors of War Memorial Veterans building in Civic center. The museum spaced “Modern” to the title in 1975 after establishing a famous representation. British Museum

The British Museum

The British Museum located in London holds finest collection of art works in London. There are more than 7 million objects and is the largest and diverse museum in world with art works from all continents that illustrate and document the story behind human culture from earlier to present. The British Museum was built during the year 1739, based on collections from Sir Hans Sloane, a famous scientist as well as physician.

The museum was opened to the public on Jan 15 1759 in Bloomsbury, along site with the present museum building. The expansion of building over 2 and ½ centuries has created many branch institutions, out of which the 1st is British Museum in South Kensington in the year 1887.
